Demolition

Engineered demolition plans for bridges, buildings, wharfs, dams, and more. Temporary re-shore and/or analysis of partially demolished structures with an emphasis on construction loading and sequencing of removal for stability.

Building and Bridge Erection

Engineered plans for erecting and temporarily bracing of steel frame, concrete tilt-up, and mass timber buildings as well as steel, pre-stressed concrete, and timber bridges. Design of temporary bracing schemes and details, including engineered lifting beams and rigging. Analysis of partially constructed structures for loading during construction with an emphasis on the minimum number of MWFRS connections required to remove temporary bracing.

Retaining Walls

Design of residential, commercial, and transportation applications both temporary and permanent.  Gravity or reinforced designs using modular blocks large or small.  Experience with mechanically stabilized earth structures using geotextile or geogrid reinforcement, either with wrap-style or vegetated faces.

Bridge Falsework and Access Structures

Engineered falsework plans for all types of bridge structures including cast-in-place post tensioned box girders, pre-cast bulb T’s with integrated cast-in-place pier caps, steel plate girders (including curved girders), and more. Design of temporary crane trestles, temporary detour bridges, oscillator platforms / reaction frames, and more. The designs emphasize available equipment, materials, and installation experience.

Nathan Jaques

Nathan Jaques started CEA in 2021 after 14 years working with heavy civil contractors delivering projects of all sizes. In addition to the project types listed, he has designed barge offload facilities, mooring and berthing structures, pile driving templates, marine falsework, sheet and h-pile shoring (including adjacent to railroad), personal fall arrest systems, overhead gantry devices, hydraulic adjustable rigging, etc. He is ready to discuss your next project or help you put together schemes for bidding purposes. He has a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University and some Graduate Level coursework in Structural Engineering from Portland State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in WA, OR, CA, WY, NY, and NV.
